Hi All,
I do some hobby repairs on various things, and got handed a couple switches that don’t charge or power on. Reading through the forums, saw I should try manually charging battery with PSU. Got those charged up to 4V (100mA limit until about 3.6V then 500mA until 4V). After plugging back in, they power up just fine. Even ran firmware updates. 5V charging also doesn’t work.
Both are HAC-001’s (one is a HAC-001(-01)).
Both USB-C ports look good. Interior of switch looks good. With battery unplugged, not seeing any shorts on caps around the charging circuitry (that I can find). I haven’t fully pulled the boards yet (so could be something on back-side).
Sounds like I could be looking at an M92 issue, but I honestly don’t know. Is there a good writeup someone has seen going through troubleshooting? The fuse on the usb-c port seems okay. The fact both have the exact same fault makes me think someone used the same faulty charger on both and blew something out?
So, where should I start?
I do have plenty of tools for doing this work, and experience doing microsoldering. I just haven’t had a chance to work on a switch yet. =)
Thanks!
