Hi everyone,
I’m working on a defective PS5 Slim EDM-040.
The original PSU had a 0 V output and was repaired by replacing IC32. The PSU is now working correctly.
The motherboard has a persistent BLOD:
- Idle current: ~0.07 A → 0.221 A for ~3 s → back to ~0.08 A
- On power-on: blue light, no display
- Sometimes infinite BLOD with no UART
- Sometimes it shuts down after ~10 seconds with:
80801028 – SSD
Report Findings OK 00000000 80801028 1B659452 FFFF0005 10000100 2013 0036 31AB 2168:2D
Clearing the UART codes can lead to either behavior.
SSD area
The original CXD90070GG SSD controller was getting hot (~65 °C after 10 s), but this was apparently within the normal operating temperature range.
Measurements on its 0.8 V rail:
- ~71 Ω to ground
- Diode mode: ~0.121 V
- Injecting 0.8 V showed no significant current consumption
I therefore replaced the SSD controller, according to the fact that All nands and ssd ram stayed cold Even in infinite blod.
Unfortunately, the problem remains.
But, with the new controller:
- NAND/DDR4 memory now warms up normally (around 40 degres after 3 minutes)
- Still randomly ~10 s BLOD followed by shutdown
- UART still reports 80801028 (only when auto shutdown)
- Occasionally it still goes into infinite BLOD without UART
DA9065 and DA9081 rails/measurements look normal so far.
New observation
I found this component near the SSD area:
- 2 pins: ~3.3 V during BLOD, 0v on idle
- 1 pin: ~0.04 V
- Diode mode: ~0.540 V on all three pins
- Resistance on the ~0.04 V pin: ~100 kΩ
Is this normal, and what is this component?
More importantly, given that the SSD controller has already been replaced, what would you check next for an 80801028 on EDM-040?
Thanks!
