Trying to repair a non booting PS5

Hi guys,

I have this PS5 EDM-010 that i’m trying to repair. The console won’t boot with one beep/blue light then shut off.

After disassembling and inspecting the motherboard i saw a burned cap around the vcore rail

Replaced it with the same result.

Checked Standby voltage and fuse, everything is okay.

About poweron rail, 1vcore is missing, but i have 1.1, 0.8 1.35.

in diode mode mesurement values is 0 between gnd and the VCORE Rail coil.

i tried to injected 1V/2A on the rail but my bench power supply stuck at 1V/1.42A and only the apu is heating.

I also lifted all the coil from VCORE to isolate, i obtained .000 APU side and .142 Mofet side in diode mesurement.

Do you thing i can try something else or is my APU dead ?

Hi. First of all, I’d recommend starting with the fundamentals. You can’t really expect to repair a board without first understanding the fuses, low-impedance areas, and the main symptoms and failure modes.

A console that beeps once and shows a blue light can be quite complicated to repair without proper diagnostics.

Could you post a picture of the area where you replaced the capacitor and explain more clearly what you mean by “burnt”?

Also, don’t inject voltage/current randomly. Injecting 1V at 1A into apu could potentially cause serious damage.

I’m sorry it seems like i’m not allowed to post picture. By burnt i meant one side of the cap was dark lile charchaol.

What can i do best to obtain a more precise diag ?

I usualy repair iPhones, sure i don’t know every things but i Hope i understand the basis :thinking:
