BSOD after failed Hwfly lite installation

Hello,

I tried to mod my switch lite with a Hwfly Lite kit as pictured below. I got it from Aliexpress. I flashed the firmware 2.75 before the install using my mac and the method described in switch.hack.guide

(add www(dot)dropbox(dot)com before the links… Sorry just discovered the forum and I’m not able to include images or links yet)

I soldered it in place and thought everything was fine except the B connection on the ribbon that was a pain to make a good connection. I know my soldering isn’t the best it looked like this :

Tried powering the switch, the chip flashed one blue LED then two yellow, pause, two yellow, pause, two yellow and blue screen on my switch. I removed everything to check what’s wrong but I still get a blue screen on my switch. I can’t visually see any damaged components everything seems in place.

I don’t know what to try now do you guys have any idea ?

Sorry for the non clickable links…

Thank you for your help

Just got promoted so here are the photos for easier reading :

Broken corner on the MAX77812 might be your root cause of blue screen. You likely need to replace this chip

Your solder job on the APU looks kinda wonky. Just to be sure, if you have a multimeter, you should test the SP1 and SP2 caps just to make sure you didn’t overheat them and consequently broke them (they’re so f- small and too much heat can fry them).

If you could provide some pics of how you soldered the Lite adapter it would be great.

I measured around 25 ohms on both sp1 and sp2. I didn’t take any picture of the other parts of the mod before removing it unfortunately

You are right jkyoho, the Max chip has a broken corner. I didn’t notice it earlier. Here are some other angles. I am not capable of changing it myself. I’ll try to find someone who can and report if this fixes it. I must have hit it while oppenning the mental cover or touched with my Iron…

Could this cause a blue screen on boot ?

Yes, this could lead to blue screen due to the broken max77812. I ve seen same thing happened on OLED model on same corner

This was correct. It works after changing This chip. Thank you for your help !
