EDM 020 beep. HDMI chip?

EDM-020

UART errors: C0810303 and 8081001

Single beep.

Short present on 1.8V and 0.9V rails.

HDMI pins show OL.

Boot sequence reaches 0.054A, and using a thermal camera I noticed that the 15JL (which does not appear shorted) reaches around 51°C. Isn’t that a bit too high?

Before removing the Panasonic IC, I wanted to be sure.

I would inject 1V at the 1.8V line and see what is getting hot.

The TPS2553 (marking: 15JL) is only a current limiter switch and from my understanding not a device which should get warm. Does 5V show up at pin 6 (output) if power button is pressed or at pin 3 (EN) are 3.3V injected?

15JL is suspect.
It has 5V on pin 6 even in standby.

5V pin 1
3.3 pin 3 (EN)
5V pin 6
4,65V pin 4

1V on 1.8 line = Panasonic HOT!

3.3V at pin 3 (EN) and 5V at pin 6 (output) shouldn’t be present in standby, only if start button is pressed. The enable signal at pin 3 is switched on by the southbridge.

But first I would remove the HDMI chip and check if it solves the shorts on the 1.8V and 0.9V lines.

Thank’s .

I’ll remove the HDMI Panasonic chip and check whether the shorts on the 1.8V and 0.9V rails disappear.

Once the chip is removed and the area is fully cleaned, would it be safe to test if the 15JL EN pin gets enabled in standby / power-on sequence?

At the moment I have no short around the southbridge area and UART is readable, so the SB still appears to be alive.

That the shorts on 1.8V and 0.9V are solved is good.

If the EN at pin 3 at the TPS2553 is low in standby now, would be great news.
