Hello,
I bought a PS5 for repair, first time trying this console, and it will boot for 2 seconds then shuts off.
I checked the power rails and they all seem fine except for the one of the back of the board that is supposed to feed the APU (I think people call it the vcore line) which has 0.9V when powering on and I heard it should be 1.1V.
The current draw on standby is 0.29A then quickly jumps to something like 7A before dropping quickly to 0.09A. Sometimes it will do this cycle over and over, sometimes it will just drop to 0 or near 0. When I power it on, it will do the same thing before dying down to near 0.
I checked UART code and got 80800024 which apparently is a fatal shudown due to APU error, possibly cracked die, but I don’t want to deal with removing the liquid metal to check, might not even be visible.
The console came in super great condition, no tempering, barely any dust. The only thing I can see left is that weird low voltage on the vcore line, but that might actually be OK.
Anyone has any idea before I close it down? I would wish my first PS5 wasn’t already a broken APU when there are so many with burnt common component.
Thanks.
