EDM-031 HDMI: No Signal, but Everything Seems to Work

Hi everyone,

I have a PS5 with an EDM-031 motherboard.

The boot sequence appears normal:

  • 1st stage: approximately 321 mA

  • 2nd stage: approximately 7–10 mA

There are no UART error codes. The only UART entry is related to shutting the console down by holding the power button.

So far, I have:

  • Replaced the Panasonic HDMI retimer IC

  • Replaced the HDMI port

  • Checked both sides of the board around the HDMI circuit for shorts; none were found

  • Replaced the C1 and “71” diodes

  • Checked the HDMI EMI filters; they appear to be fine

I have tested the console with both a TV and a lower-resolution monitor, using three different HDMI cables.

The problem is that when the console is powered on, the LED changes from blue to white, but there is still no HDMI signal.

Where else should I look for the fault?

Thank you very much for any help.

Hi, the HDMI upscaler might be faulty. Do you have the option to try another one?

Have you checked the capacitors on the HDMI connector?

You can try changing the HDCP resolution from the secure menu.

Hi,

Yes all these except one change the resolution in safe menu because I can’t acces it.

Could someone please measure the voltage at the red dot in standby? I only get a few mV there, while at the blue dot I get 3.3 V. Also, what value could that resistor be? (Maybe: [APU] SOC_DP0_HPD Input Also connected to 3.3V_SS_PG1 thru R1053 (4.7k))

Thank you,

Yap, that resistor was bad (19-20MOhm) replaced and now I have 3.3V both side and I have Signal with black screen…

Okay, I was just going to answer you. I have 3.3v in both places. Is your light white or blue?

Thank you,

I have blue then solid white.

Could someone please help me with a high-resolution photo of the area around and below the Panasonic IC on an EDM-031 board? I’d like to check whether the previous repairer knocked off or removed any components.

Thank you,
