Playstation 5 Overheating directly after booting

Hi there,

I have the same problem. I have a PlayStation 5 with an EDM-020 board. The issue was that the HDMI port was defective. I turned it on beforehand to see if it would still work. The PlayStation powered on, but there was no display. I couldn’t test it further. I replaced the HDMI port, cleaned it thoroughly, and refreshed the liquid metal. After this, I tested it, and the fan immediately started spinning very loudly and shuts itself off. Now, I can sometimes get it to turn on. As long as I stay on the home screen, it works fine. But as soon as I start a game, the fan spins extremely fast, and it shuts down again. I used a thermal camera, but it doesn’t show that the board is getting too hot. The hottest point is 50 degrees Celsius. Does anyone have any idea if this could be a problem with the temperature sensor?

Tnnx everyone for reading and helping

“Refreshed the liquid metal.” both CPU and heatpipe side or just CPU side, did you remove old LM totally and put fresh on?

Yes id did this and there is no dry spot.
