Ps4 controller l2 button thinks its being pressed

my ps4 controllers l2 button is constantly applied.
the button isn’t broken or dirty.
the controller doesnt respond when in games or apps until i restart it.
it sometimes starts working after a while or when i mess with the button layout a bit.
