Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with a PS5 Digital Edition (motherboard model EDM-020).
The HDMI port had previously been replaced (not by me), but the soldering job was very poor.
I removed it and installed a new HDMI port, making sure the solder joints were clean and solid.
While I was at it, I also replaced a damaged USB port.
The console now powers on correctly and displays an image, but I’m experiencing a rather strange problem:
The screen randomly goes black for 1–2 seconds, then the console returns to the main dashboard.
For example, if I’m in the system settings, the screen suddenly goes black and then returns to the home screen — not the menu where I was — as if the dashboard had restarted itself.
For this reason, I’m excluding a faulty HDMI port, since a bad port would only cause a loss of video signal, not a full return to the main menu.
I downloaded GTA V to test it in-game, and the console works perfectly — I can play for hours without any restarts or shutdowns.
While the game is running, accessing the system settings does not trigger the issue.
However, once I close the game, the problem happens again.
I suspected the XDPE14286A power controller, so I replaced it with a known good one, but the issue remained.
Then, step by step, I replaced:
-
the CXD90061GG,
-
the CXD90062GG,
-
and, for good measure, the Panasonic re-timer.
Finally, I tried using a different BIOS file.
Unfortunately, none of these actions fixed the problem.
Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, everyone!
