PS5 EDM-010 BLOD - UART Code C0020303 Massive Liquid Metal Spill

  1. Background: The console sat unused for over 4-5 years. CFI-1009A disc version
  2. Initial Status: Upon unboxing, it booted perfectly and read game discs successfully on the 1st and 2nd attempts.
  3. The Trigger: The owner disassembled it for dusting/cleaning. On the 3rd boot attempt immediately after reassembly, the console failed to start. Then he sent for repair. When opened up I saw liquid metal leak. Photo attached.
  4. Current Symptoms: One beep, one second blue light off
  5. UART Error Log: Code C0020303 (APU Not Responding - Trying Init or Reboot).
  6. Fuses are good. And voltage rails are there.
  7. Standby boot sequence 290mA and drop to 5mA. No power button pressed.
  8. After cleaning liquid metal still not working.

I’d do a thorough wash with IPA and clean with compressed air. The metal might have penetrated underneath. Then I’d hook up a thermal camera to see if anything heats up in standby or power on. If there are shorts from liquid metal, they can be seen immediately with the thermal camera
