PS5 Pro BLOD - Error 80C00140 - GDDR6 VRAM Chip at Bank 1 Stays Cold on Thermal Camera

Hi everyone,

I’m troubleshooting a PS5 Pro board that is stuck on an infinite BLOD.

1. Syscon Error Log

Error Code: ⁠80C00140⁠

Interpretation: APU Halt / No Response (Forced shutdown via power button).

2. Thermal Camera Scan

Upon powering on the board and scanning with a thermal imager, I noticed that the GDDR6 VRAM chip at Bank 1 is significantly colder than all the other VRAM chips, which warm up normally.

3. My Assessment & Questions

It seems the Bank 1 VRAM chip is either not receiving power, failed to initialize, or has broken BGA connections with the APU:

Is this more likely caused by a broken VDD (1.35V) / VPP (2.5V) power line/via local to Bank 1?

Or does a cold VRAM chip usually indicate broken CS (Chip Select) / CLK / Data BGA solder joints under VRAM Bank 1 or the APU?

What are the recommended next steps? Should I attempt a reflow/reball of VRAM Bank 1 first, or replace it with a new GDDR6 IC altogether?

remove bank1 ram and test all useful pads on the board see if any diode reading missing

I removed the VRAM chip at Bank 1 and measured diode mode reading

⁠DQ8_A⁠ (Pin B11): 0.000V

⁠TDI⁠ (Pin F10): 0.000V

⁠VREFC⁠ (Pin K1): 0.00V

the rest pads are fine

My diode reading on working donor board(Micron RAM):

⁠DQ8_A⁠ (Pin B11): 0.367V

⁠TDI⁠ (Pin F10): 0.552V

⁠VREFC⁠ (Pin K1):1.431V

Since B11 goes straight into CPU, I guess is cpu short

forgot to mention the reading is from edm010 board but should not make big difference to PS5 PRO board

Thanks man. If ram pads ball out of edm010 is same with vsm010. Then it is not what I can fix as apu is short. Sad and unlucky.
