PS5 shutdown after 3 beeps on power on

Hello,

My ps5 was experiencing overheating issues and shutting off initially so through watching youtube, I followed the TronixFix video by replacing the liquid metal as I had exhausted all other options.

Upon trying to power on the ps5 after reassembly, I am now experiencing a sudden shutdown after 3 beeps. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you.

check your LED board ribbon cable if its been seat om the fan long screw hole and damaged

Hey,

I just want to say thank you for the assistance. I just took it apart again and to my surprise you were correct. The entire ribbon is shredded…Sighhhhhh

I am guessing this is what is causing the ps5 to not boot… I left it unplugged all day discharging power and I was able to boot it once to safe mode to reset to factory settings. I thought I was over the hurdle until I reboot the machine. I am right back at 3 beeps.

Ok, so my next questions at this time are

  1. Is this ribbon cable hard to source? I would like to purchase one and replace it.
  2. Can the ps5 function without the ribbon while I wait for the replacement?

Just giving an update:

I have disconnected the ribbon from the mainboard and the ps5 is booting normally minus the LED front lights.

Next step is to replace the ribbon.

unless you have 1200 or slim model. the old 1000/1100 model PS5 LED board cable should be easy to find a replacement.

I have the CFI-1015a model which is on the older side of things. Unless I can buy it from this website somewhere, I will check Amazon / Ebay for a replacement ribbon. Thanks for all of the help. I went from having a very nasty liquid metal leak to just having to replace a ribbon which is very minor haha!

Then you should able to find it Amazon or somewhere. Make sure you measure the length with old and new cable be sure they give you long enough
