Hi, i am working on a ps5 model CFI-2015 board EDM-040. When i try to turn it on it beeps once does not power on and no lights turn on. After that I have to wait like 10 seconds to press the power button again so it beeps. Took some measurements and fuses are ok, PSU has 12V.
Any guidance or tips I could get would be greatly appreciated. Its my first time working on PS5 and have some basic knowledge electronics. Thanks in advance.
Beeps means South bridge should be somewhat okay, no light means something wrong before waking up apu. Check if all standby voltage5v. 3.3v. 1.98v etc has no short,
Found 12V and 5V but only found 3.3V near the HDMI connector. Also I think I found a short on the back of the Wifi/Bluetooth IC. Those caps near the antenna connectors are measuring 1ohm or 0.9ohms
And a cap near the F7003 is also measuring 1ohm. So I think I have a short on the 3.3V line. Please correct me if i am wrong.
please provide picture and circle the short cap or components in order to clarify what you are mentioning
Those caps are exactly getting 3.3v from the F7003 dc-dc converter. Hopefully this is just a short cap easy fix for you
You were right. Had a short on one of the cap that are behind the wifi ic. Would you happen to know what value it is so i can replace it?
The cap is a 0402’ 10µF X5R 6.3V
