We have PS5 console which does not turn on (electronics student is fixing it). The SSD controller chip gets quite warm once power is plugged. We have found older schematics for it. This particular PS5 is CHF-20XX version with EDM-40 motherboard version. I just need some instructions which could clarify me is the actual SSD controller chip done or is it something else.
What is tested so far:
drawn power is around 175mA and then drops to 10 - 9 mA.
12V does come from PSU to motherboard.
SSD controller fuse is tested to be ok
If there is someone who is kind enough to point us some direction i very much appreciate it.
Ok the power drawn is around there 2XX mA once plugged in and then it drops to 9-10 mA.
We do not have exact temp for you, but when i touch the chip with finger tip i can’t keep my finger on it for a long time (5-10 sec). My general guess for that temp is around 40-50C perhaps.
I am sorry that i dont have more accurate answers.
We received the USB-TTL device and used it to read UART codes using “Console Service Tool” software. It gave us UART codes in STANDBY-MODE. There were many errors reagarding APU. One error recommended to check fuses F3501 and F7501. We checked those with beeper and those were ok. Also checked fuses F7001 and F7002.
We copied error codes to safe place and cleared existing error codes. Then runned the process againg but now it did not gave any errors in STANDBY-MODE. We pressed the power button no powering on like it was before and also no more UART codes received when pressing “Run” on the software. Did we do something wrong?
What would be the next steps what we should do? Or is there anything to do anymore? What i have read that if APU is gone then the whole board is only worthy for donoring components. Is it so?
That usually means the error codes you haveread were old code and you are having SB or most prior standby voltage(DA9081) issue which leads to SB unable to work/ generate new code
