Short near M92t36

Hi! So I am trying to repair my nintendo switch, which died due to a short.

Initially I found different shorts near the m92t36 so I ordered a replacement, now I finally soldered the new one and most of the shorts are gone but I found another one where a capacitor is. I removed it but the short is still there. I also found a short between the marked pins even after the capacitor was removed. Is there a chance the new m92t36 is also damaged?

This is my first time trying to repair something with microsoldering but I have watched different tutorials and tried to practice on old phones just to have this chip swapped for a new one so I am not sure if I am doing something wrong

Any help or advice will be appreciated!!

The shorted cap is in most cases a short at the pi3usb chip on the backside of the board. If you remove the pi3usb chip and the short is gone, you found the issue.

The solder joints around the M92 need some redoing. If you use flux you should be able to get nice solder joints. Atm it seems that some pads have very little tin.

Yes that cap you have circled is related to the p13usb as mentioned above. To double check, measure the cap just below the p13usb for a short to ground as It should be shorted as well. If it is and you remove the p13usb chip, both of those shorts will go away.

Hi, sorry for the late reply I just recently had time to follow your recommendations and yes, thank you I have removed the p13usb and shorts are gone!

Now before I order the replacement, I continued looking for other shorts and I found these 3 caps around the max77620A are shorted too. I just wanted to confirm with you if that’s normal since I read online sometimes caps seem to be shorted but they aren’t before I remove it, so I can order both IC at once

Thank you again
