Here is the full history of what happened:
- Xbox Series X bought in 2021, which was working fine before I go for a 3 week vacation.
- This Sunday when I return, I saw that its fan is spinning as usual, you know, downloading updates and stuff.
- I pressed the Xbox button on controller and console didn’t turn on.
- I pressed the power button on the console and it made a electrical crackling noise and started giving some smoke from left rear side of the console.
- Immediately I pulled the power cable. Some more smoke came from the same side with some burnt smell.
- left side of the console was at 36 degrees(Celsius) at highest
- after 5-10 minutes, I ejected the disc inside with the pin, put it in a safe place in case it was still burning/melting inside
- 3 days later, I took it to a repair shop. They plugged the console, and it just worked.
- since yesterday, i’m gaming on it and no issues except a little burnt smell if i smell the fan air.
I really have no idea about what to do. I believe in “if it aint broke, dont fix it” but i saw the smoke, i smelled the burn. Do you think it is safe to use the console? What could have burnt made the console still running? In the most weird occurrence: Does burnt spiders smell like burnt electronics? I havent opened the console(never opened a series x so I don’t want to break a working console)
