Switch , no battery icon and won't boot past Nintendo logo

I just got a Switch from fleabay. It accepts a charge at 15v 0.5a from a Nintendo charger. Checking the battery voltage shows it charging.
However, I do not get the battery icon on the screen.
Pressing the power causes the Nintendo logo to display then disappears.
I have not seen this where no battery icon is displayed.

Is this a sign that the Switch is stuck in RCM mode? Or maybe a bad fuel gauge chip, due to the battery icon never appearing.

The regular suspect caps have been checked for shorts and they all look good.

I have no experience with modded switches.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

self-explained. You wont see any logo if stuck in RCM mode.

if it’s been modded. More suspicions leads to system files or modchip malfunction.

I guess I’m confused by not seeing the battery icon whenever you plug the charger in. Yet it appears to be charging the battery.

What model is the switch and what modchip is there?

It was the fuel gage chip causing the problem. I found a little corrosion around the balls, reflowed the chip and the battery icon appears and the switch boots fine.
