Switch Oled freeze

Hi. I’m having a weird problem with my oled switch.

It works correctly, lights up normally. But every time I launch a game, it ends up freezing and I have to force a restart by holding down the power button. On each game the freeze happens differently. For example on Mario Kart, it freezes when starting a race after loading. On dying light, after 10 min. On odyssey, no freeze. Etc. etc.

I thought it was a RAM problem, so I installed a picofly to check the CPU, GPU and RAM usage. No problem, the CPU is never at 100%, the GPU between 80/100, RAM between 2000 and 3000. Temperature 40-50°c. I did a nand benchmark, everything is normal.

I checked the motherboard for short circuits, nothing. If anyone has a clue that would be great because I have no more ideas…

p.s: I am used to repairs, micro soldering etc.

P.s 2: sorry for my bad English :grimacing:

I’ve got exactly same Oled for like years now and not managed to fix it. It was run simple games without lag, but with most games it hangs same as yours. I’ve went through everything same, modded, checked speeds, temps, overlocked - nothing helps. Then replaced with different RAMs, reballed CPU - nothing changed.

bad news for me :slightly_frowning_face:

I suspect ram first, but I really don’t think this is an hardware problem.

Mine run just fine some big game, but with other game it freeze directly or after 10sec/5min.

I play Mario odyssey for 1 hour, no lag, no freeze. GTA San Andreas, no lag, no freeze. Dying light same BUT, after the prequel, you need to take an elevator and after the loading screen you can go out. Every time the loading screen appear, it freeze. If I play another mode than history, no problem. So, thinking about software corruption, I’m gonna try to rebuild, why not… I don’t believe it but, don’t have any other idea :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I OC CPU/GPU/ram to the max in GTA, for 10-15min, no problem. Hardware looks to be good for me…

Do you try to change max or m92 chip ? Again, why not…

Just finish rebuilding nand from scratch and the Switch run game fine… for 10 minutes

For me that’s clearly bad emmc chip, after the rebuild I play Mario kart for 4 race and crash, before rebuild it crash directly after loading…

you replace emmc chip to new emmc chip or just rebuild partitions(softwares)?

Just rebuild software but from scratch, just keep prodinfo and key and inject to a “donor” nand. Work great first but…

I have few 32gb emmc from NS, do you think I can rebuild again on smaller chip than factory Oled have ? By doing the same process but with 32gb donor nand.

Like that I can try directly and see if it’s really the chip fault… Reballing is faster than travel china to France :joy:

short update from my side - swapped M92 and 77812 with no luck, still freeze straight away when Mario kart 8 launched

Reballing emmc for me but still freeze… I plan to change it and rebuild again the nand. If it freeze after that I just give up and put to the trash :joy:
