I have the original PS5 and last week when i started the system up i got the too many usb devices plugged in error message about four time on the top right hand corner of the screen. After that all usbs went totally out. I only have my WD Black 4tb external hard drive plugged in the back of the system. I always keep my ps5 clean and I’ve had the liquid thermal replaced about a mouth ago. i took it to a repair shop last Friday morning. They opened it up to see what’s the problem and told me they knew what it was and how to fix it. They will call me so i can pick it up the next day. Well they still have my PS5. They asked me for more time and told me it was a motherboard problem that traces into the CPU. I feel that they don’t know what their doing. I’m going to pick it up tomorrow fixed or not. i just need to know if its fixable. Lost my job last month and cant afford to get a new one right now. i really miss my ps5 because when i play with my baby daughter Minecraft, it helps with the stress. Thanks
If you don’t trust this repair shop, take it to another shop for a second opinion.
The rear and one of the front USB port data lines are direct connected to the APU (CPU) and the second front USB port is connected to a muxer and a USB C controller chip.
And if the cause of the issue is not at the front board, its connector or ribbon or at that both USB C chips, it will be also point towards the APU.
I would check the ribbon cable to the front board.
Thank you for your advice. I just picked it up and yes, no luck they didn’t fix it. I’m going to check around for a good place so that I can get a second opinion. Hopefully, I can drop it off today. I’ll keep you posted.
