The Mariko Switch kept being shorted, till I found out the diode between the coil and the BQchip was shorted, but I have no clue what kind of diode this is and if it’s necessery? I removed it and the Switch started but it’s starting to have all kind of weird things, like freaking 8.4V on V_SYS! That burned some mosfets and the EN-chip… Before I’m going to replace half of the components on this board I need to figure out what kind of diode is needed and if it’s needed at all.
Thanks!
The diode is not needed for propper starting. Older board versions doesn’t have this diode.
If more than 4 V on Vsys are switched by BQ, I guess the BQ chip is bad.
Cross fingers that the Max chips downstream are not toasted.
Thank you for your reaction.
I already replaced the MAX77812 and the MAX77620h. The board was finally done and then a mosfet blew and everything gone wrong after that…So I thought maybe it was because of that diode.. But indeed I didn’t see that diode on any other boards a had. I guess I’m going to stop with this board because there is something really wrong and I keep replacing the BQ en M92 (they will short in turns). It was that mosfet all along (M6). And I don’t have any donor ENxx chips anymore, so that was it. I can’t find them anywhere online and it’s also getting a bit expensive to keep replacing all that stuff. This was just for fun, but the fun’s over! lol
