What Flux to use?

So another question.

What kind of flux should one use?

I know it is basic, but a discussion on what to use would be of value to beginners.

Brand:
Paste/Liquid:
Syringe or Brush:
Clean up:
Cost:

A suggestion I have heard is:

Amtech NC-559-V2-TF
Paste
Syringe
IPA (I think, please, correct me if I am wrong)
$20.00 / 30 cc syringe

Any other suggestions?

Steve

That amtech 559 is perfect! Syring will last really long… just make sure to buy authentic product, cause there are many chinese version (those also work but authentic is better)… Right now i’m using chinese 9dlls version and it works really good…

I was looking for a flux suggestion as well. I bought one from Ebay in a round shoe polish like container and it keeps drying up on me. I have watched many YouTube videos where the flux stays liquid throughout the process and mine just dries up quickly. My soldering employee has left the company and I am trying to learn the trade since I have invested about $1,000 worth of equipment.
I just purchased a syringe version from Ebay; Kester RF741 No-Clean Flux.
Did I buy the right stuff this time?

i haven’t tested Kester but if you feel comfortable using that one then that’s ok, but you should get Amtech, that’s your best option… you’ll see the difference… btw, the one you bought is paste, so it doesn’t work in the same way…

Okay, thanks
Do you have a specific model of Amtech flux that I can buy?
I just keep buying stuff on EBay and finding out that it’s the wrong stuff.
