I’m looking for some help troubleshooting a Nintendo Wii with no video output. I received an old Wii system from a friend to see if I could help repair it. it turned on and the disc drive worked however there was no video output and the front LED stayed green.
Symptoms:
Console powers on normally
Wii Remote Connects Normally
Power LED stays green.
The disc drive works and spins discs
No video output at all (tested multiple cables and displays)
Board revision: C/RVL-CPU-20
Video chip: AVE RVL BU9955EKV
What I’ve tried so far:
Swapped power supply
Swapped both the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules (no change)
Followed these guides to test the video output:

Probed the AVE-RVL chip to see if I could detect any video signal, but I’m not getting anything regardless of where I place the probe.
Checked continuity on all output pins and grounds for the AVE-RVL and everything appears to be connected correctly
Measured the video output pin, and it sits at 3.3V
Connected the 2 pins on the video out port responsible for component out to see if the system was putting out a component signal
Replaced the six capacitors associated with the AVE-RVL video circuit, but still no video output
At this point, I’m not sure:
If the AVE-RVL chip itself could be bad
If there’s another component in the video path, I should be checking
Or if I’m testing the video output incorrectly
If anyone has experience with this board revision or AVE-RVL failures, I’d really appreciate any suggestions on what to test next or common failure points I might be missing.
